Girl

Background

Taken in April '08I'll start this thing off by using the most common line. Hello, my name is Aliyah. It's pronounced as Ah-li-ya, although I don't mind it being said as Uh-lee-ya (like the singer). I will, however, kill you if you say it like A-lie-ya or Arrr-li-ya. Now that's out of the way; I'm a 13 year old girl who was born, raised and currently lives in London, England. And just in case you're wondering - no, I don't have an accent like the queen, and no, I don't drink a million cups of tea a day. I live with my Dad, 16-soon-to-be-17 year old Brother, and Grandma. My Mum lives in her flat which is about 10 minutes from my house. I'm of Mauritian, Indian, African and French heritage, although I fail miserably to speak any of their native languages as if they were my mother tongue. I can understand Mauritian Creole (or Broken French) and speak a decent amount, but nothing spectacular. I'm currently in Year 8 at a local secondary school, studying the whole curriculum (about 14 subjects) for another year and a quarter. Most of which will never help me in later life, as when I'm older I would like to be either an author or a journalist.

Aesthetics

I've a moderately dark complexion and wavy black hair and brown eyes. Boring, right? I currently stand at a grand height of 5 feet and 2 inches, but I'm hoping to grow in the next few years. My weight is something average; I tend to avoid knowing the exact number. If I were to pick my favourite feature, it'd be my hair - I love it, really. It's in a pretty awesome style and condition, and I love accessorising with it. One accessory that you'll never see me without would be a bow - no matter where I am I'll always have a bow of some sort on. Hence that some of my friends know me as 'The Bow Girl', hehe.

Personality

Taken in April '08I would say my personality is quite complex. Generally, I'm an introvertive person, although if you put me around my group of 8 or so close friends, you won't be able to shut me up. I'll get extremely hyper, funny and most likely start singing songs from The Sound of Music like an idiot. On the other hand, around people I hardly know I'm very quiet and withdrawn. The weird thing? I love being in the spotlight - in front of people I don't know and I do. I have an extremely loud voice and love giving speeches or acting. I'm not good at making new friends - I often don't make a very good impression, or so I think. I'm very opinionated, outspoken and honest; I speak what I think. To my friends I'm like the resident therapist. I give good advice and I'm willing to listen to their problems, and I like helping them anyway. I don't trust people easily - there are some things about me that no one knows about. I get told that I'm a funny person, and I would like to think that too. My style of humour is sarcastic, witty and sometimes stupid. Sometimes even when I really mean things, people take it as a sarcastic remark. I'm a complete book nerd, if that wasn't obvious already. I own - and have read - over 400 books within the last two and a half years. You could also call me a grammar nerd - I tend to point out the smallest grammar error. My moods tend to change quite a bit, but not so much that you'd think I'm a completely different person a minute later. In general, my personality is one you'll love or hate - either way, I don't really care.
